We went there for a week as a family, with three adults and a teenager. Overall great experience and great value, but also with room for improvement.
Food and drink
We had the all-inclusive option, i.e. all food and drinks were prepaid. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served buffet-style in the open restaurant, with a good selection and fair variation. A zero-meat option is always available. Drinks are from dispensers during these meals.
Snacks are served twice a day, two hours before lunch and two hours before dinner. Mainly sandwiches and cake, fine but thatβs it.
Bar service is available 10:30am to 11:00pm. A range of cocktails, as well as draught beer, wine and coffee variants are available in the all-included package. Ice cream service starts at 1:00pm and offers five flavours.
Hint 1: The bartender also composes drinks not on the list, so if you want a gin-tonic or rum-coke, youβll probably get that (free with local alcohol brands).
Hint 2: Ask the bartender for a frappΓ©, if you fancy an ice coffee. Not listed anywhere, but made on request. If the bartender feels for itβ¦
Hint 3: Ice cream is served in cups, but if you fancy a cone, just ask. They may not be alltime available, though.
Accommodation
All rooms are renovated, I guess within the past five years or so. And all rooms is equipped with a fair size terrace or deck, available typically through large sliding doors, adding extra living space outside. Darkout curtains and aircon ensures a good sleep at night. Rooms also sports a small refrigerator.
We were in a family room, which has a separate master bedroom and then two additional beds in the living room. Quite standard.
What is not standard is the open bathroom concept. Two sinks are in a niche in the entry area, with entry to a) the toilet and b) a large shower with both regular and raindance showerheads. The shower has a HUGE window into the living space, only shaded by a retractable blind operated from the living space side (!). Never seen such building-internal window in a shower.
Cleaning is done daily, maybe a bit unusual on tourist hotels. One bathing towel and one hand towel is available per guest. They can be exchanged daily by leaving used towels on the floor. Pool towels can be retrieved from the reception, they can also be exchanged daily, upon request.
Unfortunately, only one key card is offered per room. A bit unpractical for a family of four, which may not all be together all the time.
Pool and entertainment
There is one central pool, great size for the hotel. Just about an adequate number of sunbeds, supported by a good amount of fixed umbrellas, plus a cabana-style area on one side of the pool. All is newish and well maintained. But man, those sunbeds require a cushion. They look nice but are hard as rocks. Definitely room for improvement here.
The bar plays radio music during service hours, music style was broad and differed from day to day. Nothing fancy, but adequate and serves the purpose.
Surroundings
Kalimaki is best known for its fantastic beach, home for a number of sea turtle nests during summer, and which is also a very kids-friendly bathing spot. It can be reached within a five-minute walk or so.
The main road have the traditional tourist-style super markets, car hires, souvenir shops and restaurants. Most of it without charm or traces of local greek culture. The nearby town of Laganas seems like a party-town, with the same soleless type of stores, supplemented by bars and discos.
Car hire is easy and cheap. So get a car or one of the countless ATVs, and take a drive to nearby Zakynthos (city) or Agios Sostis harbour, where you can typically meet the fantastic sea turtles.
The airport is close by, which is great when you arrive and leave. During the stay you will hear those machines all day. No traffic between 22 and 6 in the morning. Usually.
Would we go again?
Possibly, maybe. Price/value is really good, just donβt expect more than the three stars they have. A few updates could be easily made, then this would be a super attractive place for many families.

The room was nice and spacious, it was renovated not that long ago and you could tell. Nice walk in shower, big sink with plenty of space for your toiletries. Bed was comfortable and all the rooms have a balcony and airco. The food is quite monotonous, breakfast is always the same, lunch and dinner switch up but some things weren't very tasty so I always ended up eating the same things. The drinks are OK, the sodas are syrupy but not undrinkable. The pool was clean, there was always room by the pool and it was pretty quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The road isn't far and you have plenty of shops and restaurants there to keep you busy. You're not far from the airport either so there are plenty of planes flying overhead landing and departing but that didn't really bother me. Even though the food wasn't super I would definitely come here again.

Had a lovely week here! Rooms are quite spacious and modern (airconditioning included is a major plus!) Cleaners come in every day and give you new towels and bedsheets when needed. The room was so clean and the rainshower head was perfect!
Food in general was good, enough choice and variation thoughout the week and refilled when needed. Poolbar had a variety of drinks and is close to the pool so that was lovely. Always had snacks in between meals and fresh fruit was available!
Close to the beach (5 min walk) and 2 min walk to the strip of Kalamaki. Really good location as the hotel itself is nice and peaceful. See planes coming over every half an hour but not too loud and i thought it was fun to watch!
Special thanks to George for greeting me every single afternoon and chatting with me on the day i flew out and had to wait a couple of hours. Lovely man he is.

Great hotel for a great price! Rooms were just renovated and were very comfortable. The balcony was spacious with a nice view at the swimming pool and garden. All meals were very good, healthy and there was a good variety to choose from. The service was top notch and all personel, from hostess, cleaners, and waiters was very friendly! Recommended.

Iβm the critical type of person who gives bad reviews for something which has gone wrong or bad service. This is the first time where I am so truly happy with Amaryllisβ service. First of all let me start by the absolutely fantastic service offered by the hotel and especially the front desk manager Sonje/Sonja. She is so nice to us and helped us plan a trip to the shipwreck beach and turtle island, and was so helpful. She even packed us a lunchbox! Honestly Amaryllis didnt have to do that but it was so kind of them to. The service was just so amazing my partner and I are so satisfied and happy to spend our days here. Everyone is so kind and friendly smiling. The place is not commercialized at all, and the rooms are soooo modern and clean like a 5-star resort honestly. The bathrooms are so freaking big and fancy and the design screams luxury Which is why I chose this place over another hotel which did not renovate. The food is varied and nice and the male cleaner is so nice, always smiling at us!
Just a few points of interest:
- we ordered a double bed and every night we keep on slipping into the bed because they keep on separating because they are two single bed pieced into a double bed
- I am personally a bit scared of the big wasps here
- I wish I had come later when it was hotter or if the pool had warmed up water it would have been better to swim in in cooler times like May
But we are still so pleased with our stay and we recommend to all, with or without kids!
